Should I follow my heart?-1

While working on the same project Nitin saw her for the first time and he could feel that She was her lady. He couldn’t take his eyes off her and everything she was doing , was making him fall for her. He had met so many ladies in his life as friends, colleagues, etc but this was much different. The dark deep mascara-laden eyes were so captivating, the sharp features of hers were complementing her wheatish complexion. The cherry on the top was the sweetness of her voice and her attitude towards her colleagues and work. He found her a perfect person with blend of modern and traditional values.

By the passage of time, they became good friends and started spending time together at work. They used to discuss about their families, responsibilities, hard times, good times, and much more. She told her how hard it was for her mother to raise her and her younger brother while working in a private firm. And how she wants to help her back by making her brother independent financially. He also shared how much are his parents attached to him as he’s the only son. Both being middle class, could easily relate each other’s perspectives. All these talks made them more than good friends. He was already very much fond of her. And now, she too found him a gentleman, who respected her a lot and , perhaps loved her too. As the last date of the project approached, both of them started becoming more anxious and this anxiety was much louder than their words. The heart-beats and the butterflies in the stomach were so obvious on their faces that anybody could make out that they are in love with each other. The only question running through their heads was “Should I follow my heart?”

A day before the project report submission, he approached her and proposed her for marriage. She dint reply back and left an hour before the scheduled time. He became quite upset at her behaviour. He tried to contact her through her branch but she never came on line. Finally, one day he reached her office with bouquet of flowers and asked her for coffee. She couldn’t escape, but just went for it. There, she explained her reason for this cold behaviour. She told him that she’s fearful as marriage with him might end up her other ambitions and drag her away from her responsibilities. She was fearful for how his parents would react for using her salary by her ways. Her commitments towards her maiden family would not allow her to contribute to his family and all this would ultimately mess up their lives.  He held her hand and promised her to be by her side.

She was yet not convinced as marriage is not only a commitment to one person but to the whole family. He agreed to let her meet his parents and then, decide.

P.S. : The meeting was scheduled and the course of events will unfold in next part.
